High power resistors built on beryllia (BeO) and aluminum nitride are available in a variety of case sizes. When properly mounted, these chips can handle many times the power of a conventional chip resistor. The maximum power dissipation for these conduction cooled devices is limited buy the termination tyep and the properties on the thermal path. The thermal resistance values for our chips, shown in the table below, can be used to calculate how much power they can dissipate in your application. Maintaining a maximum film temperture below 150 degrees C is required for the reliable operation of these resistors. High power resistors are specified by product code B (beryllia) or N (aluminum nitride) in the part number.
