High Reliability Mission critical applications such as aerospace, defense, and medical electronics demand the utmost in quality and reliability. SOTA offers a variety of screening options to meet these demanding requirements.
MIL-PRF-55342 product is popular for mission critical applications in both the defense and aerospace sectors. For products not available in MIL-PRF-55342, or if the MIL-PRF-55342 screening is not suitable for the application, SOTA can provide custom High Reliability screening.
Most SOTA High Reliability testing is based on the testing specified in MIL-PRF-55342, with deletions and additions tailored for specific applications. The table to the left lists the common tests used on High Reliability products.
Most of the possible testing permutations have been assigned SOTA specification numbers, eliminating the need to generate a Source Controlled Document (SCD). The chart below lists some of the common SOTA specification numbers for High Reliability testing of chip resistors.
High Reliability Testing Options
Group B Inspection
100% Visual Inspection
Non-destructive test performed at 70șC in socket type fixtures. This test can be performed on a sample or on a 100% basis.
High Temperature Exposure
This non-destructive test exposes the resistor to elevated temperatures. It is used as an alternative to Power Conditioning where socket fixturing is not practical.
Per MIL-PRF-55342 except life test @ 1,000 hours
1,000 hour at 70șC sample test
Other testing options include Power Moisture, Moisture Resistance, Shock and Vibration, Constant Acceleration, Power Pulse, Destructive Physical Analysis, and Noise testing.
